This years Fire Prevention Week was a huge success for the Glen Moore Fire Company.

The week began with 17 members traveling to Springton Mannor Elementary School on Tuesday to speak with students about fire safety and to help teach the kids about the importance of knowing two ways out of their home in the event of an emergency like a fire. The students also learned about the various equipment that we carry on our firetrucks and what we use the equipment for.

After the Elementary School visit was over a crew of 6 took Engine 48-5 to the Devereux Brandywine campus to present to some of the students about fire safety as well.

Special thank you to both the administrations of Springton Mannor Elementary School and the Devereux Brandywine campus for allowing us to come and speak to the students.

Wednesday evening the Glen Moore Fire Company held their annual fire prevention open house. This years open house was a huge success even though we had light rain throughout most of the event. The crowds of people came out to enjoy fire truck rides, arts and crafts, snacks, meeting some of the men and women of the 48 house, operating a real fire hose, and even a live fire demonstration at the end of the evening where they saw their Glen Moore Firefighters in action!

Members constructed a simulated house with supplies generously donated to us by BELFOR Property Restoration, and set fire to this structure to show the spectators what happens in a house fire.

Thank you to everyone who came out this year to make this one of the best open houses we have ever had!
