On Wednesday 5/23/2018, the volunteers from the Glen Moore Fire Company gathered for their weekly training session. They spent another evening training on water supply. GMFC was joined by Tanker 73 from Ludwig’s Corner Fire Company.

During the drill, Engine 48-1 simulated a fire attack by deploying two 1 ¾ hose lines. Engine 48-5 then had to supply 48-1 before it ran out of water. Engine 48-1 carries 750 gallons of water when responding. The crew from 48-5 set up the portable water tank and prepared for drafting. Tanker 73 dumped its water into the portable tank allowing 48-5 to continually supply 48-1 with the water needed for fire suppression activities. Engine 48-1 then deployed master streams so that members could observe the difference with the amount of gallons of water that is used by different size hose lines.

The training was a great opportunity for the junior members to gain valuable experience with setting up the portable water and getting it ready for water supply. Water supply using tankers and a portable water tank are critical elements for fighting fire in areas with no hydrants.
