On Sunday 7/15/2018, the Glen Moore Fire Company was invited to participate in another “Day in the Life” training. Five members from GMFC joined crews from Ludwig’s Corner Fire Company (73); Twin Valley Fire Department (69) and Ridge Fire Company (62) at the Chester County Public Safety Training Center. During the day of training, crews were dispatched to a multitude of calls and incidents. The incidents allowed the crew from GMFC to work on their own as a team and then with the members of the other companies to foster inter-department team work. Crews were able to train on hose line deployment; search and rescue; water supply; and communication. The day consisted of a variety of calls including the following:

Trash fire
Downed wires with exposures and smoke in a building
Automatic fire alarm
Pipeline Emergency
House fire

The final call of the day was dispatched as a car fire. Engine 48-1was first on the scene with a fully involved car with extension into a dwelling. There were reports of victims trapped and fire on multiple floors. Command upgraded the situation to a working fire which brought units from the other fire companies to the scene. The crew from 48-1 quickly deployed a 1 ¾ inch hose line and extinguished the car fire before making entry into the basement for additional fire attack. The other fire companies made a response and assisted with fire suppression; water supply; search and rescue; ventilation; and overhaul.

We would like to thank the Ludwig’s Corner Fire Company for inviting us to participate in this multi-agency training event. We would also like to thank the instructors at the training center for leading the scenarios.
