Last evening, a crew from GMFC traveled to Thorndale with Engine 48-5 to participate in a water supply drill with Station 38 (Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company). In some of the rural areas of Chester County, there may be limited access to fire hydrants. Therefore, using tankers and running a port-tank operation is one of the main ways of supplying water to the fire scene.

During this drill, two porta-tanks were set up for drafting. Engine 38 drafted from the tanks and supplied Ladder 49 and an additional master stream. Tanker 39, Engine 47-5, Engine 49-5, and Engine 48-5 then shuttled water to the porta-tanks.

The GMFC would like to thank the Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company for the invitation to participate and for the learning experiences gained during the drill.

Check out the video below of Engine 48-5 dumping its water in the porta-tank.
