By Glen Moore Fire Company
December 10, 2018

The volunteers of the Glen Moore Fire Company were kept busy this past weekend with various events and emergency calls.

On Friday evening, the company came together to support our Chaplain Matthew York as he celebrated his ordination. Pastor York has been a rock for the fire company for the past few years and has been a source of support for all the members. Not only is Matthew our pastor but he is also an exterior firefighter. Matthew trains with the company each week and responds to calls. The fire company would like to congratulate Matthew on this accomplishment! We also want to thank him for his support and dedication to the community.

During the ordination, the company was dispatched for an automatic fire alarm. It was quickly determined that an individual pulled the alarm and that there was no emergency.

On Saturday 12/8/2018 at 2:44am, the company was dispatched to assist Station 73 (Ludwig’s Corner Fire Company) for a smoke investigation. It was discovered that the smoke was coming from an unattended controlled burn. Crews from 48 assisted 73 with extinguishing the burn pile.

Later in the day on Saturday, GMFC participated in the Downingtown Borough Good Neighbor Christmas Parade. Engine 48-5 and Brush 48 represented the company.

On Saturday evening at 10:02pm, the QRS unit was dispatched for a medical call. The volunteer EMT’s responded and assisted the patient and ambulance.

Crews were then kept busy during the early morning hours on Sunday. At 12:07am, the company was dispatched to assist Station 49 on a reported mobile home fire. Assistant 49 arrived on scene and quickly determined that the flames were from an outdoor fire pit. The crews were recalled and returned to the station.

At 4:10am, the company was again dispatched. This time for a brush fire in GMFC’s first due. Brush 48 made its inaugural response. Upon arrival, crews found an unattended brush pile. Crews extinguished the fire and returned to the station.

Brush 48 replaces the old Tac 48. It is a 2017 Ford F350 4x4. The brush truck is equipped with a 200 gallon Darley Skid Unit with two 1” booster reel hoses (100’ each). The truck is outfitted with a variety of firefighting tools including shovels, forest fire rakes, Pulaski tools, a chainsaw, and 600’ of forestry line.

The company would like to thank all the volunteers who made themselves available during this busy weekend.
