This morning, the Glen Moore Fire Company was notified we are the recipient of yet more federal funding. This year’s grant funding, in the amount of $23,500, will help purchase a much needed gear washer/extractor and gear dryer. This equipment is specifically designed for fire service use.

Each year the leadership at GMFC meets to discuss the needs of our station and funding opportunities available to purchase these needs. This year protecting our gear, which amounts to roughly $3,000 per person, was our biggest need. Each set of gear is a ten year investment and we were finding our gear was breaking down at much faster rate.

Along with the gear investment, this funding is an investment in our personnel. Firefighting is a dangerous and hazardous business. The cancer rate among fighters is on the rise. One of the most simplistic ways to combat this is to make sure your station has the proper equipment to clean the gear that was in that environment. This grant will do just that.

The leadership of the Glen Moore Fire Company would like to, once again, thank John Sly Grant Writing for his expertise in securing yet another Assistance to Firefighter’s Grant for our organization. Since John started writing our grants in 2009, he has secured GMFC $770,595 in Federal Funding.
