After taking a week off from training to host the Annual Fire Prevention Open House, the crews at GMFC returned to work. This week's training focused on EMS Operations and Rescue Operations. The scenario was a person pinned beneath a large tree. EMT's Mary McCabe and Kat Strock reviewed how to quickly assess the trapped patient and begin EMS operations. Crews then practiced several techniques for safely removing the victim.
After this scenario, crews had some fun using the hydraulic spreaders. The goal was to move several small pumpkins from cone to cone without damaging them. This is great practice for learning how to maneuver the hydraulic spreaders and how to control the speed and pressure of the tool.
