| This morning Deputy Chief Jeff Hannum was informed by the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy that Glen Moore Fire Company has been awarded the Silver Level through the Participating Department Recognition Program. Commonwealth emergency responders have an opportunity to participate in and be recognized as certified fire professionals at various levels in accordance with nationally recognized and sanctioned Professional Qualification standards. This equates to 75% of our active crew are Nationally Certified at the Firefighter I level which is a great accomplishment.
This was a challenge to our membership that started last January to honor and memorialize Asst. Chief Joshua Wuertz who was taken from us after losing his long time battle with Leukemia. As a tribute to Josh, we made a goal to obtain the 50% Recognition Bronze by the end of 2012. We were able to surpass that goal and now are working toward 100% Participation.
The state recognizes levels of participation by fire companies; 10%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. Decals placed on fire apparatus signify the level of participation by each company. GMFC will proudly display a Silver Band around the edge of our decal to signify 75% attainment. |
