At 2pm today, the Wallace Township Board of Supervisors, Road Crew Department, and Glen Moore Fire Company Operational officers met to discuss our plans for Hurricane Sandy in more detail. It was noted that Wallace Township has declared a STATE OF EMERGENCY. Please note that only essential and emergency vehicles should be on the roadways. Residents are being asked to Shelter in Place if able to be done safely. A shelter of Last Resort which is Pet Friendly is available to residents at the Lionville Middle School on West Uwchlan Avenue in Lionville.

After the meeting, crews from the fire company and township went to access rivers, creeks, and dams along with roadways. The storm is gearing up as expected with significantly higher amounts of rain and wind in the entire township and district. Residents need to remain home and avoid being in the elements. Roadway Flooding and Power Outages remain very likely as earlier reported.

Below is on example of Springton Road at the bridge near Indiantown Road to give residents an idea of roadway conditions. Remember TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN!

Both Wallace Township and Glen Moore Fire Company are prepared to address this storm as needed. PLEASE NOTE THAT IF WINDS BECOME ABOVE 50 MPH THAT RESPONDER SAFETY BECOMES COMPROMISED. Responses may be limited or cancelled as a result. This is in compliance with standards established by the IAFC (International Association of Fire Chiefs). This could also hamper resonses by Ambulance and Police resources as well. Currently it is estimated that sustained wind gusts over 50 MPH are possible overnight when the brunt of the storm starts being down on Chester County.

Life Threatening Emergencies should be directed to 911.
Non-Emergency Responses should be directed to 610-344-5000.
Power Related Emergencies - PECO 800-841-4141.

If you don't have access due to phone or internet lines being down, the Station located at 578 Fairview Road is staffed and reports can be made. Please use the lower entrance and report to the 2nd floor if no one is at the Watch Desk.

Please use extreme caution with this storm if you plan to be outside. Conditions are poor at the moment and will get progressively worse overnight. Remember a STATE OF EMERGENCY is in effect so fines are possible for those driving that are not deemed essential or emergency personnel.
