Tanker Assist on the Barn

At 1146 hrs station 48 was dispatched for ENG485 to assist station 44 (Westwood Fire Co) on a barn fire in the 3000 block of Strasburg Rd in East Fallowfield Twp. DEP37 (Perine) was on location reporting a barn fully involved, ENG485 was on the street at 1150 hrs. Once on scene ENG485's crew assisted in suppression operations while the tanker itself was put in the tanker shuttle. ENG485 shuttled water from a hydrant fill site at Strasburg Rd and Windy Hill back to the scene where the water was dumped into porta tanks. The fire was placed under control at 1536 hrs with all units working on overhaul. All together ENG35 (Wagontown Fire Co) which was on the hydrant at the fill site unloaded over 100,000 gallons of water into the tankers that were in the shuttle. ENG485 returned to the 48 House at 1630 hrs. The volunteers from the 48 house wish a speedy recovery to the injured fife fighter who was transported to the local hospital with a shoulder injury.
