| At the banquet on Saturday evening at Hershey's Mill, Chief Seese presented the 2011 Awards for Firefighter of the Year, Junior Firefighter of the Year, EMS Responder of the Year, and Three Special Service awards.
The first award was presented to Probationary Firefighter Jeffrey Hannum III for his efforts in the refurbishment of Command 48 as part of his Eagle Scout service project. The Fire Company received a donation of a 2004 Ford F-150 from Wallace Township. Jeffrey worked with O'Neills Body Shop in New Holland to paint the vehicle and worked to get all of the emergency lighting and striping installed. Jeffrey is currently a senior at Downingtown West High School and is currently enrolled in Fire I class.
The next Special Service Award was presented to Past Lionville Fire Chief and current Chester County Assistant Fire Marshal Michael Holmes for his service and dedication as Chief of Station 47 for the past six years. Mike is a great asset to the fire service and has always been a friend to the Glen Moore Fire Company.
The last special service award was presented to Deputy Chief Jeff Hannum for his efforts with improving training and communications over the past year. Part of the training program improvements included moving to a six month training schedule, a stronger focus on outside training, and more hands on fire training and drills.
The Junior Firefighter of the Year went to Nathan Hall. Nathan is currently a junior at Downingtown East High School and joined Glen Moore Fire Company to complete his community service project. Nathan was described by Captain Ferrari as hard working, dedicated, and a quick learner and has been a welcomed addition to the fire company.
The EMS Responder of the Year went to John Keith Kenna for his dedication to the EMS Program. Keith responded to 48% of the EMS calls in 2011 in addition to serving as the EMS Captain. He has been instrumental in scheduling duty crews, ordering supplies, and submitting call records to the county and state.
The Firefighter of the Year was awarded to Craig Muller. Craig joined the fire company in 2010 and has been a tremendous asset from the start. Craig worked dilligently in 2011 to earn five Pro Board certificates and became a very well respected firefighter. Craig responded to the highest percentage of calls and also drill nights. Craig just recently was the nozzleman and led the crew on the agressive extinguishment of the fire on Pennswood Drive last Tuesday evening. Craig is serving as our Lieutenant in 2012 with a well deserved promotion. |
