On Sunday afternoon just after 2:35pm, Engine 48-5 was dispatched to assist Lancaster County Station 4-9 (White Horse) on the 2nd Alarm Assignment for a working house fire. While crews were assembling to respond, a second call was alerted for the Department for Brush on Kathleen Way. Chief 48 (Seese) and Engine 48-5 handled the first call while Deputy 48 (Hannum) and TAC 48 along with Brush and Ladder 49 handled the second call. Engine 48-5 was made available on location soon after arrival and TAC 48 was able to extinguish the roughly 20' x 20' woods fire quickly.
With the warmer tempatures and dry conditions, GMFC would like to remind residents that it is important to keep a garden hose close by while burning. Please be aware of changing wind speeds and directions and to report all controlled burning to the Chester County Department of Emergency Services by calling 610-857-5509. No night time burning is permitted and fires must be attended at all times.
