Engine 48-5 Moving to Cambridge, IL

August 1, 2012

Wednesday evening was the last ride for our crew in the 1992 Mack / 4 Guys Pumper-Tanker (Engine 48-5) as it was loaded on a low boy trailer for its new home in Cambridge, IL. The Mack has been replaced by a 2012 Seagrave Pumper Tanker that is a much more functional unit and is estimated to serve the community for 20 years. The new Seagrave is estimated to be in service by September 1st.

The 1992 Mack / 4-Guys was ordered a few months after our 1976 GMC/ CARMAR "Big Smoke" (Original 48-5) was destroyed in an accident while enroute to a garage fire in West Nantmeal Township late in 1991.

The Mack served the community faithfully for 20 years and was an excellent vehicle in terms of reliability and built a solid reputation for shuttling water and pumping details. We are sad to see this unit leave, and also excited to place our new Seagrave in service! We will be having an Open House for the community to come visit the new unit in September.

Units: Engine 48-5
