On Wednesday evening, the crews receive instruction from members of the Uwchlan Ambulance Corps (Station 87). The focus of the training was on how to use the specialized equipment that is a part of the corps' bariatric unit. Uwchlan Ambulance Corps operates the only unit in Chester County a specialized stretcher, ramps, and winches. The unit also carries an air lift mattress that is designed to lift up to 1500 pounds from ground level to stretcher then into the ambulance.

Volunteers from GMFC received instruction on how to use the equipment. They then had the opportunity to use the air mattress to move individuals (GMFC volunteers) from the floor to the stretcher to the ambulance. Another GMFC volunteer was then moved from the second floor crew room, down the stairs and loaded into the ambulance using the specialized equipment.

The members of GMFC would like to thank Jack Trego from Station 87 for providing the instruction. Station 87 provides ambulance coverage to some of the same areas protected by the Glen Moore Fire Company. The fire company and Station 87 run several medical calls together throughout the year.
